Welcome to a new month in our school year. We have had a few teaser days with some warmer temps. Just a reminder to keep sending all the winter gear with your child, hats, boots, etc. February was a monumental month with our 100th day of school. Now we are looking forward to all the great events yet to come.
In Reading we are going to start learning some reading strategies, so watch for those in the weeks to come. Report cards are coming up again very soon, so I will be doing skills testing for those in the next few weeks. Your child may have a week or two where they do not get a new guided reading book, as that is my only time for one-on-one testing. Please be patient with me as I finish up the skill tests. In math, we are continuing to learn our teen numbers, practice our fluency in addition and subtraction, and greater and less than. In Writing, we are finishing up our "How To" stories. We are using the knowledge of what we are good at, to help teach others! Some favorite topics are, how to make a pizza, how to plant flowers, and how to be a spy! In religion we are celebrating the time of Lent. We will be learning the Easter story, and will be able to retell it to you! We have had so much fun learning about many different events in the month of February, and have so many more to look forward to in the month of March. For Presidents day, we learned about George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. February was also, dental health month and we learned about the importance of taking care of our teeth. Everyone received a couple tooth brushes and I still have a box full! If you would like some for younger/older siblings or friends, please let me know :) The month of March is going to bring us so many exciting topics to learn about. We are already almost done with Dr. Seuss week, and have been reading many, many books by him. We have done a wonderful job of also figuring out what lessons Dr. Seuss is trying to teach us through his wild and wacky stories. We are also looking forward to St. Patrick's Day, Easter and even Spring Break! God Bless everyone over Spring Break and safe travels for those who are going someplace (hopefully warm!).
