Even though we’ve had a few unseasonably warm days, we have also had cold days. Please make sure your child is dressed appropriately for the changing weather outside. Once there is snow on the ground students need snow pants and boots. Also, yesterday we started our winter gym. Please check with you child to make sure they have a pair of shoes that still fit...we know how fast those little feet grow :) They will be changing into these shoes when we get to the gym.
November was an exciting month. In reading and handwriting, we have learned a lot of new Alphafriends and can read and write a lot of new words with them. Also, with the help of our Star Words we can read and write sentences. We’ve even started reading books! In Math, we are starting to learn about teen numbers and finding groups of 10 with help from the “10 bug”. In fact, we have started practicing how to add and subtract to 5!
We have so much to be thankful for and if you look at the pictures below you can see your kids think so too. I am thankful for each of them and for each of you as you do a wonderful job raising your children with the spirit of Jesus in everything they do! Thank you!
December brings a lot of exciting events to look forward to. It is the month of Advent, a time to look forward to the birth of Jesus! Also, we have our Christmas program to look forward to. We have been practicing hard and are doing a great job remembering the words to our songs.
To celebrate Christmas we will be doing a fun activity (gingerbread houses) with our 5th grade reading buddies a few days before Christmas break (exact day TBA). We are looking for a few donations: 2 boxes of graham crackers, 2 cans of frosting, decorating candy (can be old Halloween candy), and paper plates (study or Styrofoam). Please let me know if you will be able to donate one of the items by note or email. Thank you in advance!
Have a happy December, a Merry Christmas, and stay warm if you can.
