This last month of school is no exception to the exciting events that we will have as we wrap up the end of our school year. The Auction from the Heart will be on Saturday. Thank you to those who donated items, I can't wait to see you all there. We are also getting ready for the school talent show on the last week of school. I’m excited to see all the amazing acts this year!
In math, we finished up our last chapter and will now be implementing our new Einstein kit that has come!
Science has been an exciting time in our classroom as well. In our Einstein Kit, we will be exploring how balls move, the bounciness of certain balls, and how well some balls can roll. Later on we will be able to make our own balls, and make ramps for balls. We will need empty toilet paper rolls to make our ramps. Please collect toilet paper rolls, paper towel rolls, or wrapping paper rolls and send them with your child. Thank you!
In reading, we have learned 8 strategies to help us when we are stuck on a word: Eagle Eye, Lips the Fish, Stretchy Snake, Chunky Monkey, Flippy Dolphin, Skippy Frog, Tryin' Lion, and Helpful Hippo. Students have been doing a super job with these strategies and finding one to help them when they are stuck. We are now working on finding the main idea of the story we read, and will be practicing the sequence of events.
In writing, we have learned about different types of writing we can do, such as writing letters to others, and making lists. Next week we will learn how to write a "How To" story. We can teach others how to do something through our writing!
